According to SASSA, over nine million South Africans applied for the SRD R370 grant.   • Visit the official SASSA website at https://srd.sassa.gov.za.  
  • Navigate to the application status page 
  • Enter your reference number and other required information ie ID number and phone number. 
  • Click on Check Status. The system will then display your current status. Review your SASSA status to see if it is pending, declined, or approved. 

Via WhatsApp 

You can also check the status on your smartphone via Whatsapp. This is a great and fast way to check your status. 

  • Add the SASSA WhatsApp number 082 046 8553 on your phone. 
  • Send Hello to the number. 
  • You may be requested to send your South African ID number and phone number for verification. 
  • The SASSA officials will respond with your grant status.

Why was my SRD R370 Application Declined? 

Your application can be declined due to several reasons. The common ones include: 

Identity verification problems. 

If in your application there are mismatched details that do not match with the official records at the department of Home Affairs, then your application is likely to be declined. 

Recipient of other grants 

The SRD R370 is specifically meant for individuals who do not receive any other grant and are in need of the financial support. Therefore, if SASSA finds out that you are a beneficiary of another grant, then you will no longer be eligible.

NSFAS student funding 

If you also receive education assistance from NSFAS, you are disqualified from the SRD grant. This is because you are considered to already have your finances supported.

SASSA will check your bank deposits to see if they exceed R624 as it shows you are not qualified. Moreover, earning over R624 means that you are likely to have another income source. 

Contact issues

Missing documents
