SASSA has confirmed that the circulating R700 application form is fake and that beneficiaries should be cautious. The fake news claims that SASSA is offering R700 grant application forms to citizens between the ages of 18 and 35. It also gives the statistics of the people to received the fake R700 grant. How to Apply for SASSA grants? 

There are two main ways to apply for SASSA grants: online or in-person. 

Online application 

Online applications are more convenient for many. This is done via SASSA’s official website. 

  • Visit the website on your device at  
  • Register to create an account. You will be required to provide your ID number, proof of citizenship, your name, email address, and cellphone number, and input a unique password. 
  • Click on the Register button to receive an OTP. Enter the OTP to confirm registration. 
  • Log into your new account with your name and password to access SASSA services. 
  • On the page, look for Apply for a Grant, then choose the grant you wish to apply for. 
  • Fill out the grant application form with all the required information. 
  • Print the generated affidavit and take it for certification by the commission of oaths. 
  • Upload supporting documents in PDF format, depending on the grant you are applying for. 
  • Submit your application form and supporting documents to complete the application. 


Some applicants would prefer to make their application in person. 

  • Visit the nearest SASSA office. If you cannot do so yourself, you can use a procurator—a friend or family member to make the application for you in person. 
  • You will be given an application form to be filled out in the presence of the SASSA representative.
